From As/400 Computer Programmer To Business Analyst Role

I am given an option of working with one of the reputing firm as a BA, presently I am working with an very good bank as programmer, Will it be a good option to switch from Programming to BA

    AS/400 is a dead computer – 20 yrs old

    Doctor Deth is WRONG. Yes, the as/400 is OVER 20 years old, but it is FAR from dead.

    I could go into details, but the as/400 (AKA, The iSeries, System i, now IBMi) is widely used in enterprises which need the ability to expand and grow, something PC servers do not do.

    Anyway…….Yes, it may be a good move as you will gain an understanding from the inside where the business rules are applied. As a programmer, you can write code and apply business rules to programming specs…..but as a BA, you will analyze the underlying data.

    Be sure to keep your hands dirty in code if you can…..but if you have topped out in your company and you feel you can not move further and the money is there…..go for it.
